Greek dog-music: A scene of "dogs" barking against each other, instigating within each other hate and jealousy and guilt, perpetuating eventually what is musically an ethnic cultural disease. Songs of hate, jealousy, revenge, thirst for power, and glorification of... interpersonal mud predominate!
But this "disease" is not Greek at all. It is the
denial
of Greekness (Hellas), internalised and turned inside-out and
outside-in,
against itself, as cultural poison. Negative vibes, negative memes,
negative ideas and negative music, like... polluted drugs, are served
by
big record companies to the masses!
2. Some antidotes against "skyladiko"
We do have some excellent musicians in Hellas (Greece), generally not well known, especially outside Greece. We have quite a few excellent ballad-writers and rock musicians many of whom are forced to work in irrelevant jobs or in "skyladiko music clubs" to earn their living. We have people like Kotsiras, Malamas, Vangelis, Yannis, Antaios, Avaton, to name but a few.
What we do NOT have is a systematic theoretical
attempt
to transcend the music pulp culture of our country, from a radically
psychoanalytical
and politically progressive point of view. We think of trash-music as
"normal",
and some of us pride ourselves to have gone beyond it. But this is
really
selfish, as it only feeds our egos, "we" being the "selected few", and
it allows the others, who are regarded as inferior and ignorant, to
continue
consuming musical trash without any criticism and without anything
positive
-as an antidote against it. "Anti--skyladiko political thought"
is
therefore absent in Greece... till now. This site is the world's first
site devoted to this kind of criticism. It's not a hate-site, but a cultural
therapy site, devoted to cleansing Greece of all the musical
trash,
which masquarades as "Greek music". -It's not even Greek; In fact
most
of it is musically Turkish. And its' lyrics are often quite
awful
too. If you hire... paranoid schizophrenics to write down their ideas
and
delirious patterns of behaviour on paper, you'd probably get much
better
lyrics than these! :-)
3. Inviting you to join us
This is the VERY FIRST attempt at such a controversial web-page. It is not meant to be a "hate site", but a constructive cultural criticism site. So please bookmark this page and visit it often. We will soon have a guest-book, a public forum, and other facilities for you to express yourself. Last but not least, we will include links to other musicians, composers, and groups who feel the same way as we do, against "skyladiko". Here is our first link:
